Girls U13 Premier: Camp 2 v 3 Samphires (Scorers Alisha Deady, Siofra Murphy, Sarah O’Sullivan)

Our U13 girls played away to Camp in what was a bitterly cold day for soccer. We were missing a few players with a few players dropping out late and had no other choice but to field a team of 8 against a very strong Camp team. We only had one game plan and that was to defend like our lives depended on it and when the opportunity presented, get quick ball over their defence. Fortunately our strategy paid off and we got some beautiful goals from the quick passing. Our defence obviously was outstanding and in the last few minutes we scored the winner from a great free kick.

Captain on the day was Louise Gaynor. GOTM Nessa Kirby who had a fantastic game in the centre.

Boys U13’s Premier: Mastergeeha 2 v 6 Samphires (Scorers: Mikey Corridan(2), Luke O’Carroll, Dara Harty, Tom Lenihan(2))
A fantastic result and a great performance from all against one of the strongest teams in the league. We started off against the breeze and were under pressure from a strong, powerful side. Mastergeeha went one up with a good finish in the box after a sharp turn. We hit back however when Mikey Corridan beat two defenders for pace and rolled in a finish off his right. Mastergeeha went back in front after a pass out of defence was intercepted and fed to their centre forward. We fought back however when Luke O’Carroll followed up a rebound from a shot that hit the post. 2-2 at half-time.
Second half: We had the breeze and went ahead when a lovely pass over the top from Luke to Mikey allowed him in on goal to poke home a finish. Mastergeeha fought back but Robert O’Shea in goals, Diarmuid Murphy, Alan O’Connor, Danny Gazi, and Tiernan O’Keefe stood firm. We got a lucky goal straight from a corner from Dara Harty and then a fabulous header from a corner from Tom Lenihan secured the victory. There was still time for a final poked finish from Tom Lenihan at the death MOTM for Fenit Mikey Corridan but credit to all – much improved passing, and intensity.

Boys U12’s Premier: Killarney Celtic 4 v 0 Samphires

On Wednesday night, our U12’s travelled to Premier League side Killarney Celtic in the John Murphy Cup. After a great effort from Samphires Killarney Celtic came out on top 4-0. Despite the loss, it was a great learning experience for our boys to play against a side in a higher division. Once again our defence was superb throughout the entire game and in particular our keeper and MOTM Fionn O’Connor was outstanding saving us on multiple occasions.

Boys U11s: The u11 Cup competition continued this week with games for both the Green and White team.
The Green team played against Park D on Wednesday evening in Ardfert and put on a great display in an exciting contest.
The White team played early Sunday morning versus a strong LB Rovers.  Well done to both teams.
