Seniors: Samphires 0 v 0 Castlegregory

The senior mens team played in the ‘final’ of the Premier B Division against Castlegregory. The teams finished as the top 2 in the division and will be in Premier A next season. All the matches between these 2 teams this year have been pretty close and this one was no different. We felt after the match it’s one we could have won as we had a lot of the ball overall, but we could have lost it in the final few minutes as Castlegregory had us under pressure but we held out to force a replay.

Boys U15s Shield Final: Camp 5 v 2 Samphires (Scorers Cian McKenna(pen), Jayden Deady)

We were well beaten by a more determined Camp team who had the better of the game. We didn’t play at all in the first half and conceded in the first minute as it seemed like nerves got the better of us. We went 2 down soon after and it was all uphill after that. We did settle to play a bit for the rest of the first half and at times had control of the game but a resolute Camp defence held us out. The Camp midfield overall had it over us and their forwards were dangerous throughout, adding a third on the counter at the half. Our boys upped it after half time and we got it back to 3-2 through Jayden and Cian. It was gung-ho then but with 5 minutes left we pushed a defender forward but it was Camp who scored the all important next goal and they added to this with the last kick of the game to put a gloss on the scoreline for them. We offer our congratulations to Camp on their victory and thanks too to the referee and his team of officials.

Girls U12s Shield Final: Samphires 0 v 5 Listowel Celtic

Hard luck to our girls 12s who lost out to Listowel in Castleisland last Sunday morning. Though the scoreline says we were well beaten, that wasn’t the story of the game. In general play, it was fairly even but Listowel took advantage of the chances that came their way especially on the counter attack. Our girls did plenty to be happy about and there was quite a bit of good passing to be seen by both teams. So well done to John and Malachy who have put in the time with the team and have turned the girls into quite a good outfit. Well done too to all the girls who did so well during the season. Keep up the good work in training and ye’re time will come. Thanks too to all the parents for their support throughout the season. Finally thanks to the referee and linesmen on the day.
