Seniors: Asdee Rovers 1 v 3 Samphires (Scorers: Billy Walsh(2), Alan McElligott)

Our seniors bounced back with a good win away to Asdee in tough conditions this morning. We were threatening the Asdee defence early on with some good link up play between our front 3. Billy Walsh grabbed the opening goal early in the half after being put through by Joe Carmody. Asdee pulled a goal back shortly when we gave away a corner after overplaying the ball at the back. Our lead was restored before half time when Billy got his second after some more good play down our right wing.

The second half was a battle as we dealt well with anything that was thrown at us while Paddy O’Sullivan made a few sharp saves to keep us in the lead. After a goal mouth scramble we got our third when Alan McElligott tapped in from close range. In truth we could have grabbed another goal or two but we didn’t test our opponents’ keeper enough.

All in all, a very good performance and a much needed win. Thanks to Asdee for a tough but sporting game and for John Ross for officiating.

Seniors: Samphires 0 v 3 Dingle Bay Rovers

Our seniors were deservedly beaten by Dingle in Mounthawk Park last weekend. We started very brightly, keeping some good possession and threatening their back line on several occasions. It was our opponents who opened the scoring mid way through the half and they added two more before half time. The second half saw us playing some more decent football without really threatening to score.

Overall it was a poor performance but there were some glimpses of good play at times. Well done to Dingle and thanks to Willie Gorman for officiating. Also, we wish a speedy recovery to Donnchadh McGarry who picked up an injury during the game.

Girls U16s v LB Rovers Nov 22

Girls U16s: LB Rovers 4 v 0 Samphires

Our u16 Girls played LB Rovers under lights in Parks new astro turf in Tralee on Thursday evening. This was a tough, even contest which the scoreline does not reflect. We were caught on the break a couple of times but never dropped our heads. Well done all.

Boys U14s Vs Iveragh Nov 22

Boys U14s: Iveragh 0 v 3 Samphires (Scorers: Dara Harty (2), Luke O’Carroll)

Played in almost biblical conditions in Iveragh with storm force winds and driving rain this was a courageous performance with every player putting in massive effort to secure a win. We were without a number of key players, but other players stepped up and all the team fought for every ball. Actually, playing football was nigh on impossible and the first half went by with very little by way of chances. The defence of Robert O’Shea in goals, Tiernan O’Keefe, Diarmuid Murphy, Alan O’Connor and Conor O’Sullivan all battled to keep Iveragh out and midfield of Cillian O’Brien, Evan Lyons, Austin Donnellan, Luke O’Carroll and Karol Kowalczyk created a few half-chances for Dara Harty up front. 2nd half was much the same but crucially we created the breakthrough when a ball from Evan Lyons allowed Dara Harty to outpace the Iveragh defence and he finished well into the bottom corner. Iveragh fought back and through a series of corners put us under pressure but we held firm with Robert O’Shea in goals in particular a calm influence in horrendous conditions. After some neat build up the right we scored from close in from Luke O’Carroll and Dara Harty finished off the game with a poked finish after taking on 3 or 4 defenders. A great performance with a lot of heart from all but man of the match was Robert in goals.

U13 Girls: Fenit Samphires 3 v 5 LB Rovers (Scorers: Ava Flaherty(2), Abi Kearney)

Our unbeaten run came to an end last Saturday thanks to a couple of LB late goals but our girls did brilliantly to fight their way back into this game after trailing 2-1 at half time. 2 goals by Ava Flaherty and a marvellous strike by Abi Kearney were not enough to get us over the line on this occasion but great credit must go to both teams for a great game.

Boys U12 vs Listowel Celtic Nov 22

U13 Boys Samphires 1 v 2 Inter Kenmare (Scorer: Jack Corridan)

A very disappointing result conceding the 2nd goal with virtually the last kick of the game. Not for the first time this season our lads played exceptionally well without getting the reward at the end. The scores were level at HT with Fenit taking the lead with a superb strike from Jack Corridan but then conceding shortly after. Although we dominated most of the second half and were really pushing for a winner Kenmare struck in the final minute to steal the 3 points. Some great stuff was played by our boys and we continue to improve so lets keep up the good work and the results will eventually start to turn our way. Best for Fenit Conor Nolan, Patrick Egan and Jack Corridan.

Boys U12s: Listowel 0 v 3 Samphires (Scorers: Dara Harty (2), Luke O’Carroll)

Our U12 Green team travelled to Listowel in Div 1 on Saturday. For the first time this season we had all players available and each plsayed their part in a good win. We started slowly but after 10 mins settled well and put the Listowel keeper under pressure but he was having a great game and we couldn’t make the break through. We were then caught on the break and Listowel scored leaving in 1 nil at half time. We came out of the block fast in the 2nd half with Cormac Lawlor scoring from tight angle after great run. He then set up Cody Deady for the 2nd and Zach Kearney added a 3rd. Listowel kept pressing and were awarded a free kick from which they scored. We held out for the win but it was a close game. Thanks to Listowel for sporting match.
