World Cup Competition Leaderboard after Quarter Finals

Boys U18s: St. Brendan’s Park FC 1 v 3 Samphires (Scorer Billy Walsh(3))
Samphires had a thoroughly deserved win against their neighbours in perfect conditions on Tuesday night last. Park started very well but after several minutes of home pressure, we finally settled into the game, with our midfield gradually getting on top. We took the lead through Billy Walsh who converted a fine cross after 25 minutes. We could have gone two nil ahead 10 minutes later when Alex Hoare hit the upright, but then Park equalised five minutes later after a run through our rearguard to leave it all square just before halftime. Soon after kicking off for the second half, Billy Walsh netted again from distance after a similar fine run at Park’s defence. Leading 2-1, we continued to press and Walsh made it a hat trick with his and our third after 70 minutes, tucking it home after great work and a fine cutback from substitute Luke Casey. Alex nearly made it 4 when he struck the crossbar from a free outside the box. Now dominant, we forced many corners and went close with several headers. Keeper David Chute produced a great save at his near post to keep us 2 ahead. Park tried to peg us back but our defence stood firm and held on for an excellent win in what was an overall great team performance. Well done to all involved.

Condolences: The club would like to extend condolences to the Godley and Quilter families on their recent losses. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.
