Seniors: Strand Road 2 v 0 Samphires

The senior team had no luck against Strand Road last weekend in a league fixture. We would have to concede the better team won out on the day. We will have to reset now after Christmas and get ourselves going, otherwise we will be in a relegation battle.

Samphires U18s vs Mastergeeha Jan 2023

Youths League: Mastergeeha 1 v 4 Samphires(Scorers: Noah Townsend(2). Alex Hoare(2))
Our Youths made it four wins from five in the Youths League after another victory away to Mastergeeha this afternoon. We however were very sloppy at times in possession and never got into this game in the first quarter, despite a long range effort from Cian O’Gara after just 3 minutes which nearly deceived the home keeper. Mastergeeha duly punished us and went ahead after 18 minutes when their striker finished a well through ball that split the visitors defence. We upped the ante, dominated for the next 10 minutes, and duly equalised when Noah Townsend tucked it low to the left corner from close range. The home side very nearly went ahead five minutes later from a looping header off a corner that was brilliantly tipped over the crossbar by goalkeeper David Chute. Both sides then cancelled each other out for the remainder of the first half leaving it 1-1 at the break. Some choice words from the management at halftime had the desired effect, and we were a changed side in the 2nd half. Cian O’Gara and especially Donagh Murphy soon began to dominate midfield, and the passing game and work rate was now of the highest quality. Noah Townsend bravely headed home his second to put the visitors ahead after 55 minutes and they never looked back. Alex Hoare added a third five minutes later and then his second and our fourth soon afterwards, chipping the home keeper following a fine through ball from Michael Tansley. We continued to dominate for the remainder of the game nearly scored a fifth when Oran Murphy hit the crossbar and substitute striker Ethan Gaisey also came close with a ricocheted effort moments the end.

Girls U16s: Samphires 0 v 3 Dingle:

Our girls lost to Dingle last Saturday in Fenit to a good Dingle. We would feel the result didn’t reflect the game and the effort the girls made, but at the end of the day it’s scores that count and we just weren’t quite good enough at both ends of the pitch. It was quite a good game with good play from both teams. Well done to all on a sporting game.

Samphires U15s vs Killarney Athletic Jan 2023

Girls U15s Killarney Ath 0 v 4 Samphires (Scorers: Siofra Murphy(2), Sarah O Sullivan, Grace Reilly)

The u15 Girls had an early start on Saturday morning when they played away to Killarney Athletic.
Two goals from Siofra Murphy who put in impressive performance and one each from Sarah O Sullivan and Grace Reilly saw us come away with the points.
Sadhbh Walsh at left back played excellently but it was a very good all round team performance and we passes the ball well.
Thanks to Killarney Athletic for the sporting game.

U15 Div 1 Ballyhar Dynamos 3 v 4 Samphires: Scorers(Sean Hickey (2), Mikey Corridan, Michael O’Sullivan)
A great result and a fantastic performance from all in a tough match away in Ballyhar. We had almost a full squad and it showed as we started strongly and put Ballyhar under pressure. From a Michael O’Sullivan cross Sean Hickey smashed home the ball when it dropped in the box to put us 1 nil up. Ballyhar fought back and equalized from long range.
Once again, we went in front after a Ballyhar mistake, but they pulled it back again with a lovely move which their right winger fired home. 2-2 at half-time.
2nd half was equally intense and Ballyhar were pushing to go in front when from a corner at our end a long punt from keeper Gary Egan left Mikey Corridan through in on goal and he slotted home. We started to take control and score a fourth with a break down the left from Michael O’Sullivan and he fired home when one on one with the keeper. We were in control now and had a few more chances to score. Ballyhar pulled one back with literally the last kick of the game with a rebound after Gary had saved a penalty. Battling performance form all and lots of good football. Best for us was Sean Hickey in midfield

Boys U10s vs Ballyhar Jan 23

Boys U13s: Listowel Celtic 1 v 1 Samphires (Scorer Gary Parker)

Our  U13’s played our 2nd game since the turn of the year having drawn our previous game 2-2 away at Tralee Dynamos. This time it was the turn of our boys to travel to Listowel Celtic. This turned out to be a fantastic game with both teams sharing the spoils 1-1. For Samphires it  was unquestionably our best performance of the season against a much physically bigger opposition. Samphires opened the scoring with a great goal from Gary Parker following a superb through ball from Cillian O’Brien. Listowel pulled one back just before half time. The second half was a tight affair with both teams cancelling each other out
The team performance was exceptional and the boys really dug in and worked hard for each other – fantastic from everyone.

Boys U10s: Well done to our u10 boys who enjoyed some fun games this morning against Ballyhar. The practice is paying off and you can see the improvements every week! Well done everyone.
