Seniors: Samphires 1 v 2 QPR

The seniors lost out to QPR in a hard fought game on Sunday. We played well again but QPR kept us out throughout with some good strong defence. Our lads did have a lot of the play but Lady Luck has deserted our young team for the moment but all we can do is keep working hard at training and as we get stronger and wiser, the results will change for the better. Keep the faith boys.

Boys U16s: Iveragh 1 v 2 Samphires (Scorers Gregory Clifford, Conor Dennehy)

The Boys 16s travelled to Cahirsiveen last Saturday. Matches between the teams have been testy at times and this match was much the same. Overall we had the lion’s share of the possession and chances but Iveragh had their own chances at vital times in the game on the counter attack and could have gone away with a share of the spoils. Our goals came from some some smashing offensive play from the team and the overall performance at times was quite impressive. The goal we conceded was from a corner, a very poor goal from our side of things but Iveragh were a threat all day from corners especially in injury time when were resilient defensively for 4 corners in a row. Overall, it was a very good result away from home against a good team. Well done boys.

Samphires U15s vs Camp Jan 22

Girls U15s: Camp 4 v 1 Samphires (Scorer: Sadhbh Dowling)

We had to call on 4 of our u13s today for our game v Camp. Sarah Chute, Louise Gaynor, Abbie Kearney and Sadhbh Dowling did outstandingly well and were not phased at all by playing up two ages.
We were unfortunate in the first half, conceding three of the goals. But great credit to the girls they regrouped at half time and came out and despite losing another goal straight, conceded no more goals and Sadhbh scored a great goal. Sadhbh could have been awarded two penalties and we also hit the crossbar with a free kick, so the result could have been a lot different. The girls should be very proud of themselves. We only had 3 players today at u15 age, all of whom were a great help to the younger players. The team is evolving and we hope will be in great place as we move forward.

Samphires vs MEK Jan 23

Boys U14s: MEK 1 vs 4 Fenit Samphires (Scorers: Mikey Corridan(2), Tom Lenihan, Cillian O’Brien)
A great result and a massive performance as we were down to eleven players only with a few late withdrawals and with Dara Harty nursing an injury, he bravely played in goal. Despite all this we started really well and played some lovely football and created a few half-chances. However, we fell behind when we failed to compete for a corner, a regular failing this season. We fought back and deservedly equalized with a lovely through ball from Danny Gazi allowed Mikey Corridan to fire home. 1-1 at half-time.
In the 2nd half, we took over and goals from Mikey Corridan, Tom Lenihan and a goal from Cillian O’Brien after some lovely passing in midfield gave us the points. Everyone played well and we passed the ball really well and fought against a physically stronger team. Best for Samphires on the day were Austin Donnellan who played through large part of 2nd half with an injury and Danny Gazi on right side of midfield.
