Seniors: Samphires 1 v 3 Ballyheigue Ath (Scorer Ryan Dolan)

We lost out against high flying Ballyheigue last Sunday in Fenit. Our lads were good at times but Ballyheigue were the better team overall, so again we look on to the next game where we hope our fortunes will change.

Boys U18s Vs Killorglin Feb 23

U18s Boys: Killorglin 3 v 1 Samphires (Scorer: Jayden Deady)
A much changed Samphires XI entered The Dragons Den on Saturday night last in this highly anticipated top of the table league clash with hosts Killorglin. This game certainly lived up to its billing ,as a high quality match ensued between two very evenly matched sides, which decisively turned against Fenit in the 75th minute when the referee awarded a highly contentious penalty with the scores level at 1-1. Fenit, missing three regular starters from their previous matches, nevertheless took the game to Killorglin, who proved to be a very physical outfit. Killorglin took the lead after just 5 minutes when their centre forward broke cover and drilled hard and low to open the scoring. We grew into the game and had a number of half chances including an effort for Alex Hoare which struck the left upright after 35 minutes. Down 1 nil at halftime, Samphires increased the tempo in the second half with the energetic Niall Collins leading by example, and their crisp passing game had Killorglin’s midfield and rearguard stretched to breaking point on numerous occasions. We deservedly equalised when Jayden Deady powered home a Niall Collins corner after 68 minutes and now were gaining the upper hand and a 2nd goal looked likely when an extremely harsh penalty was awarded against stand in centre half Rory Boyd, after he had made what appeared a perfectly timed tackle. Baffled with this decision, Fenit to their credit tried again for an equaliser, coming close when Alex Hoare again hit the post in the 84th minute from a near perfect free kick. Killorglin completed the scoring in the 92nd minute with an unstoppable pile driver, to put a gloss on the result.

U13 Boys Samphires 2 v 5 Killarney Celtic (Scorers: Zack Kearney, Cillian O’Brien)
Following a great display in our previous game against Listowel this was a very disappointing result against a much better Killarney team on the day. Our boys never really got going and were 2nd best all over the pitch. The only bright spot was we scored 2 fantastic goals from Zack Kearney and Cillian O’Brien. Best for us on the day was Zack Kearney.
