Senior Men: Our Seniors had 2 matches over the last week with mixed fortunes.
Strand Rd 4 v 3 Samphires (Scorers: Richard Burke, Cian McKenna(2, 1 Pen)
A disappointing result for us after being in control for large periods of the game but poor defending again costing us goals. We were 2 nil up at half time and seemed to be on the way to a comfortable win, but we resorted to long ball in the second half, brining our opponents into the game and they duly capitalised. We really have to have the courage to play our game for the full game and not just in the first half of games.
Samphires 2 v 1 Castleisland B (Scorers: Alan McElligott, Donagh Murphy)
Our seniors came away with all three points this morning after a tough battle with Castleisland. We opened the scoring when Alan McElligott found the top corner from distance but conceded an equaliser shortly after 1-1 at half time. The second half was a cagey affair but we got our noses in front mid way through when Donagh Murphy found the net. We defended well to see the game out, although with a bit more composure in possession in the second half, we could have created more chances.
Boys U13s: Samphires 3 v 1 LB Rovers (Scorers: Daniel Lawlor(2), Adam Fitzgerald)
Our u13 Black Team played first home game of the season on Saturday morning against LB Rovers. Both teams served up a very enjoyable game. We created lots of chances but the LB Rovers keeper was in great form. The deadlock was finally broken just before half time with a shot from outside the box from Daniel Lawlor.
LB Rovers equalized mid way through 2nd half from a shot just inside our box. We played some nice football and following a nice move on the wing, we scored a rebound off the post by Adam Fitzgerald. We rounded off the scoring with a very well taken free kick into the top corner of the game.
Well done especially to our 2 U12s Ben and Daniel and our U11 Oran who played really well in the older age group.
Thanks to LB for a competitive sporting game.
Girls U11s: Park vs Fenit U11’s played out a great game on 3rd Nov. 7pm ko. It was Fenit U11’s girls first game of the season against a talented bunch of girls in Park FC. The girls showed great examples of skill and composure in defence and attack with some terrific goalkeeping on display.
